Highlight iPhone 16 Pro
- The iPhone 16 Pro may be the first Apple device to have Face ID beneath the display.
- Only iPhone 14 Pro devices now provide the Dynamic Island function.
- The release of the iPhone 15 is anticipated for the second half of 2023.

In September of last year, Apple unveiled its four-model iPhone 14 series. Although the Cupertino company has not yet officially announced the new iPhone 15 series, rumours regarding the 2024 iPhone models, which are widely believed to be the iPhone 16 series, have already begun to circulate. According to a recent claim, Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro will have a face ID under the display. When not in use, the facial recognition lens won’t be noticeable. Only the front camera’s lens cutout will be visible. Additionally, the Dynamic Island feature, which is presently only accessible on the iPhone 14 Pro models, is anticipated to be included on all iPhone 15 models.
The Elec (in Korean) has reported that Apple may include under-display Face ID on the iPhone 16 Pro. When not in use, the biometric security that is used to safely unlock the device would seem to be a regular display. With this, just the front camera’s lens cutout will be visible when the display is switched on. Additionally, the immersion factor might be raised.
According to the source, Apple will proceed to deploy an under-panel camera (UPC) after implementing under-display Face ID technology. This is supposed to get rid of the display cutouts that the iPhone currently has.
The iPhone 15 Pro variants were rumoured to use Apple’s under-display Face ID technology. The source also states that because the under-display technology is not yet ready, the firm will make the Dynamic Island feature accessible on all iPhone 15 models. The functionality was exclusive to the iPhone 14 Pro versions the previous year.
The Elec’s research agrees with predictions made by supply chain analysts Ross Young and Ming-Chi Kuo. Last year, Kuo predicted that Apple will introduce under-display Face ID and an under-screen front camera for the first time in 2024. In a previous tweet, Ross Young speculated that the iPhone 16 Pro would include under-display Face ID. Additionally, he stated that Dynamic Island would be made available on all iPhone 15 models by Apple. Apple’s 120Hz ProMotion screens will only be available on Pro models, according to Ross.
