For someone who doesn’t even have TikTok, it’s surprising how often I make viral recipes featured there. This time it’s barely a recipe, more of an idea. It’s a simple way to make a personalized dairy-free tortilla wrap. By cutting and folding one large, filled tortilla, kids can make their own dairy-free Crunch Wrap Supreme copycat (a Taco Bell favorite). Adults can, too!

Technically, the fillings can be whatever your family likes. But we opted to make a dairy-free and vegan-friendly Taco Bell Crunch Wrap Supreme copycat. We used vegan beefless crumbles from Aldi, Wayfare dairy-free cheddar, tortilla chips, and lettuce. You can optionally add salsa or diced tomato with the lettuce for a more “authentic” crunch wrap. Or a wrap made entirely with dairy-free cheese would be a fun variation on a quesadilla.

    Dairy-Free Tortilla Wrap Tips

If you are using dairy-free cheese shreds, and are worried about them melting, or you just want it extra gooey, you can add some moisture in that quadrant. Add a little salsa or diced tomatoes to the cheese section. Adding a little moisture helps the melt of cheese alternatives.

The photo below demonstrates the cut and fold process. In this photo, the cheese alternative is in the third quadrant. I prefer to put it in the fourth quadrant for better melt.

These tortilla wraps are perfect for kids can cook because most of the cooking is assembly. Having control over what goes into their food is popular with kids, too. Older kids and teens can prepare the fillings and cook the wraps. Younger children can assemble their wraps and have help cooking them.

This TikTok trend is genius! It's a quesadilla meet a wrap, allowing or more filings than a quesadilla, but easier and toastier eating than a traditional wrap or burrito. We use fillings that make it just like a Taco Bell Crunchwrap Supreme, but you can mix things up with other fillings. See the post above for tips.

    Ingredients

    • 1 large tortilla per person gluten-free, if needed
    • Tortilla chips crushed slightly
    • Shredded lettuce
    • Salsa optional
    • Seasoned ground beef (we used Earth Grown Vegan Beefless Crumbles from Aldi seasoned with dairy-free taco seasoning)
    • Dairy-free cheese alternative (we used Wayfare Dairy-Free Cheddar; see post above for Tips)
    • Oil for cooking (if needed)

    Method

    1. Place the tortilla on a cutting board.
    2. Cut a straight line from the center of the tortilla to the bottom edge.
    3. Working clockwise from the bottom left quarter of the tortilla, place a different filling in each quarter. Place ingredients that you don't want to get too warm, in this case the tortilla chips and lettuce with salsa (if using), in the first two quarters. Place meat or meat alternative in the third quarter, and cheese in alternative the fourth quarter.
    4. Starting with the lower left quarter, fold the sections up over one another one by one.
    5. Heat a small amount of oil in a frying pan over medium heat or heat a grill press. Cook the wrap until browned on both sides.
