The Best Dairy-Free Sorbet Brands to Make You Forget Ice Cream

By Alisa Fleming on March 6, 2025 Food and Grocery, In The News, News, Popular Food Guides

Updated for 2026! Our post on the Best Dairy-Free Ice Cream Pints is always popular. But we must not forget about sorbet. I was guilty of writing off sorbet as a “boring” option for many years. Only recently have I begun to appreciate just how amazing it really is. Many varieties are crafted simply with fresh ripe fruit and sugar, and are churned to create a natural creaminess with a refreshing icy finish. Good quality sorbet has a pure, intense, and sweet flavor that’s naturally dairy-free. Most brands are also vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly, too! Here is a round up of our favorites, followed by a quick guide to all of the dairy-free brands we have found.

The Best Dairy-Free Sorbet Pints that will Make You Forget Ice Cream - vegan, gluten-free, and allergy-friendly options

The Best Dairy-Free Sorbet Pints Sold at Grocers

Sorbet fell out of favor for several years. Wonderful brands like Whole Fruit, Julie’s Organic, Ciao Bella, and Charlie’s melted away from the market. But we’ve just begun to see a resurgence, with brands and flavors popping up to fill in the gaps of the declining dairy-free ice cream market. We’ll start with the best dairy-free sorbet brands (in our opinions), and follow it up with other great labels that we haven’t purchased and tried yet.

Allergen Notes: All items listed below are dairy-free by ingredients. But ingredients are subject to change at any time, and all products are at some degree of risk for allergen cross contamination, whether they have a “may contain” statement or not. Always read the label before consuming any food, and make sure you are familiar with this may contain information and kosher symbols. Only you can decide what is safe for your needs.

    Haagen Dazs

We were so sad when Haagen Dazs discontinued their dairy-free ice cream line. But they haven’t forgotten us! This iconic brand released three new dairy-free sorbet flavors in 2025. We sampled and loved the complexity of the Summer Blueberry & Lemon, alluring sweetness of the Passion Fruit & Sweet Pear, and extra tanginess of the Sweet Lemon Coconut. Overall, Haagen Dazs sorbet is refreshing and very fruit forward.

    • Flavors: Summer Blueberry & Lemon, Passion Fruit & Sweet Pear, Sweet Lemon Coconut, Mango and Raspberry
    • Key Dietary Notes: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
    • Availability: United States and United Kingdom (they might be available in some additional countries)

    Talenti Dairy-Free Sorbetto

Talenti makes a popular dairy-based line of gelato, but their sorbettos have an equally loyal following. They’re stamped with “dairy-free” right in the name and come in alluring creamy and fruity flavors. We’ve tried the Lemon, Strawberry, Raspberry, and Mango and were hard-pressed to pick a favorite. They each have such fresh fruit appeal and aren’t overly sweetened.

    • Flavors: Zesty Lemon, Summer Strawberry, Paradise Passionfruit, Roman Raspberry, Alphonso Mango, Cold Brew (they also have Dairy-Free Gelato Layers varieties, which are not sorbet).
    • Key Dietary Notes: All of their sorbettos are dairy-free, gluten-free, nut-free, peanut-free, and soy-free by ingredients. All of the fruity flavors are vegan, but the Cold Brew contains eggs.
    • Availability: United States and Australia

    Jeni’s Sorbet

Jeni’s is a popular scoop shop with a good smattering of locations across the U.S. They’ve introduced creamy dairy-free flavors at their stores, but their naturally dairy-free sorbet is pretty impressive, too. It typically features complex fruit flavors and a little vino for depth. And unlike their dairy-free ice cream flavors, the sorbet is available by the pint direct from Jeni’s and in natural food stores. The Frosé is their flagship sorbet, but they do occasionally release seasonal sorbets.

    • Flavor: Frosé
    • Key Dietary Notes: Jeni’s sorbet is vegan, gluten-free, soy-free, and nut-free by ingredients. But they do contain a little alcohol, which may or may not be cooked off. Check with the company if concerned.
    • Availability: United States

The Best Dairy-Free Sorbet Pints that will Make You Forget Ice Cream

    Sambazon Sorbet

They only have one sorbet flavor, but they’re experts in it. Sambazon specializes in acai everything, and their organic acai sorbet is sweet, pure pleasure. It can be difficult to find, and a little pricey, but justifiable for that intense acai infusion. Not to mention, it’s actually an affordable and very easy product for making your own acai bowls!

    • Flavor: Acai Berry
    • Key Dietary Notes: It’s vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens. It’s also certified organic and fair trade.
    • Availability: United States

    Open Nature Sorbet

This house brand is exclusive to the Albertsons family of stores, but that is no small family. It includes Safeway, Vons, Shaw’s, Jewel Osco, and many more grocers. Their line is extensive and known for being both refreshing and intense with fruit flavor.

    • Flavors: Lemon, Passion Fruit, Blueberry Acai, Peach, Strawberry, Mango, and Raspberry
    • Key Dietary Notes: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
    • Availability: United States

    Private Selection Sorbet

Though we’re partial to Open Nature, Kroger does a very admiral job with their house brand. This line is carried at their family of stores, which includes Food 4 Less, Fred Meyer, Fry’s, Ralphs, Smiths, and many more.

    • Flavors: Lemon, Black Cherry, Strawberry, Mango, Mango Passion Fruit, and Raspberry
    • Key Dietary Notes: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens.
    • Availability: United States

    Best Sorbets in Canada

Since most of the above sorbet brands are U.S. only, I put out a request for favorite Canadian brands. Thank you to Angela B., Michelle J., Ursula J., and Isabelle A. for telling me their top picks.

    Chapman’s Sorbet

Chapman’s is a Canadian dairy products company (they make all types of ice creams and yogurts). However, they also produce a line of dairy-free sorbets that several of the above ladies recommended. Unlike other brands, they don’t score big points with their chocolate sorbet. But the fruit flavors have received “sweet” marks.

    • Champion Flavors: Rainbow, Tropical Wave, and Triple Berry
    • Key Dietary Notes: By ingredients, all of their sorbet flavors appear to be vegan, gluten-free, and made without top allergens. But they do appear to use more additives than your average brand.
    • Availability: Canada

    Solo Fruit

This Quebec company believes in natural sorbets. Their fruit flavors have no added sugars and each tub contains a dense quantity of fruit! Their dark chocolate sorbet is sweetened, but it’s still 70% cacao.

    • Champion Flavors: Dark Chocolate, Pear, and Raspberry
    • Key Dietary Notes: These are more wholesome than your average brand, and they specifically note that they are vegan, nut and peanut free, egg free and gluten free.
    • Availability: Canada

More Dairy-Free Sorbet Brands to Try

    • Gelato Boy (pictured below) – You can find their sorbet line at Whole Foods, City Market, Natural Grocers, Sprouts, and other retailers regionally across the U.S. Their pints include traditional flavors and some modern twists, like Blood Orange and Limoncello. If you live in the Denver area, pop into one of their scoop shops for some more unique sorbet creations.
    • Pitaya Foods – Their “Sorbetter” focuses purely on tropical flavors, including Coconut, Acai, Passion Fruit, and of course, Dragon Fruit (aka pitaya). It’s sold regionally in the U.S. at stores like Safeway and Wegmans.
    • Righteous Dairy-Free Sorbetto – This Canadian brand is popping up all over North America. Most of their flavors are two-fruit combinations, like Passion Fruit Lemonade, Mango Pineapple, Strawberry Rhubarb, and Raspberry Lime. We haven’t tried it yet, but are impressed with their allergen transparency. They have allergen protocols, including this: “There is a full cycle of sanitation and a milk allergen test conducted between our gelato and dairy free sorbetto to ensure there is no cross contamination.” They
    • Uli’s Gelato – You’ll see their sorbets in Southern California, but they can also be ordered and shipped anywhere in the U.S. They have a range of sorbets, from classics like Raspberry and Chocolate, to unique flavors like Coconut Lemongrass and Flavor King Pluot.

Talenti’s Cold Brew Coffee Sorbetto is excellent! I don’t know of any other dairy-free product that is coffee flavored.

That is a fantastic one! Mauna Loa, Oatly, Bettergoods (Walmart), and Jeni’s each have a dairy-free coffee variety – just in case you feel like taste testing those yourself!

Why don’t they also say dairy free on Chapmans? It does seem there is no dairy on the ingredient list.

When it comes to products, “dairy free” is just a marketing term. It isn’t regulated or recommended in any way. It’s up to the company on if they want to use a label like “dairy free,” “non-dairy,” or other dietary descriptors.

From what I can tell on their website, SOLO Fruit is available on in Quebec and Ontario. Chapmans is great tho’ and readily available in western Canada. I just wish it came in a smaller container as if I buy one, I eat all of it!!!

Sadly, I haven’t run across any of these other than Sambazon. I may have to request a few of these at our local natural grocery store, starting with Jeni’s.

I love Haagen Daz Mango. Hands down one of my favourite things to buy. I like to do one scoop mango and one scoop vanilla ice cream. Otherwise I haven’t seen many of those brands. Will have to keep my eyes peeled next time I’m in the US.

I’m heading to the store later to see if they carry any of these sorbets. I got so caught up with the dairy free ice creams, that I completely forgot how much I love sorbets. I see several flavors I would like to try.

Three cheers for another underdog… It’s such a shame that sorbet doesn’t get more love! It seems like it’s non-dairy or bust these days. There are so many brilliant fruit-based frozen treats that are far superior, thanks to their natural sugar content (goodbye ice crystals and hello smooth texture) and much bolder flavor, since there’s no filler! I’ll have to investigate these brands. Lots of new ones to me.

Agreed! Though I must admit to shunning sorbet at times. I’m opening my mind (and palate) up now after trying some of these! Glad I could shine a light on some new options for you.
