We have shared over one hundred different types of smoothies over the years, but these are the best dairy-free smoothie recipes in my opinion. They include protein shakes, all-fruit blends, banana-free options, and of course, green smoothies. Almost every blend is, or can be made, vegan, gluten-free, nut-free, and soy-free, too! Just ask if you want any modification suggestions.

Over 25 of the Best Dairy-Free Smoothie Recipes
It was hard for us to narrow them down, but here are a couple dozen of our favorites. If you’re watching your added sugar intake, know that most of these are, or can be made, added sugar free. Some don’t need any sweeteners at all, others have a touch of natural sweetener, and most blend well with sugar-free sweeteners. So don’t be afraid to modify any to taste and to your dietary needs. Smoothie recipes are meant to be played with!
Everyday Turmeric Smoothie
I also call this one my “anti-inflammatory smoothie” recipe. It focuses on getting the most health benefits from this beloved spice while creating a delicious flavor.
Sustainable Smoothies
Every ingredient in this smoothie was carefully selected with sustainability in mind. The green smoothie version shown below is the “spring” version, but I have summer, fall, and winter recipes in that post too!
Blueberry Banana Breakfast Smoothie
This was our everyday smoothie for years. Of course, we eventually branched out, but I still return to this classic, nutritious formula often. It’s without a doubt, one of the best dairy-free smoothie recipes you will find. It’s nutritious, fulfilling, and has the perfect light sweetness for the morning.
Cosmic Coconut, Cranberry and Cherry Smoothies
I never would have tried these flavors together on my own, but a reader sent it in for one of our recipe contests. It’s such a delicious combination!
Mexican Chocolate Shake
Chocolate, almond, and cinnamon blend seamlessly in this rich, thick, “grab a spoon,” healthy shake.
Pink Cadillac All Fruit Smoothie
When you need a cool refresher, reach for this 3-ingredient blend. It’s naturally loaded with vitamins, antioxidants, and electrolytes to replenish on a hot day or after a workout.
Mango Colada Smoothies
I originally created this recipe way back when I published my very first book back in 2008. It’s still a tropical favorite. We enjoy it as a smoothie, or as a smoothie bowl with toppings.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Smoothie
Whether you opt to layer it or just blend everything together, this delicious smoothie will put a nostalgic smile on your face.
Very Cherry Smoothie
Dark cherries are an under-loved frozen fruit when it comes to smoothies. You can but them in the freezer section of most grocers, and they add amazing flavor depth and body to your blends. This version can even be banana-free if you wish!
Creamy Almond Protein Shake
When I want a protein smoothie, this is my go-to blend. Unlike most other types of nut butter, almond butter adds a touch of non-dairy calcium and magnesium for health bones. You can also use fortified almond milk for an even bigger boost of minerals. I also use just a little protein powder in this blend to maintain the creamy consistency. For a fancier version of this recipe, enjoy my Chocolate Almond Butter Cup Shake Recipe.
Brain-Boosting Smoothie
This dairy-free, banana-free version was adapted from a “Love Your Brain” smoothie in a favorite magazine of mine (that’s no longer in print). They boasted matcha, blueberries, coconut milk, and spinach as great brain food.
“Tastes Like Ice Cream” Chocolate Protein Shake
It’s pretty remarkable how ingredients like mango and tofu come together with chocolaty ingredients to actually taste like melted ice cream.
Plant-Powered Green Smoothies
Pop spinach, cucumber, grapes, banana, pineapple, dairy-free yogurt, and dairy-free milk alternative into your blender for a health and surprisingly tasty smoothie. If you want a simpler blend, try our Basic Green Smoothie Recipe. If you prefer kale, we do have a Banana-Free Kale Fruit Smoothie Recipe.
Kid-Friendly Wild Berry Smoothie
This recipe uses everyday fruits that kids love, and also has some healthy additions snuck in. For kid-friendly sips, I also recommend The B.O.S.S. Smoothie, which my niece began making for her and her sisters when she was just 10 years old!
Hawaiian Sunshine Smoothie
I’d be remiss if I didn’t include papaya in our best dairy-free smoothie recipes. This smoothie uses ingredients beloved on the islands. For a truly tropical experience, use apple bananas. For a more papaya forward flavor, try my Healthy Gut Papaya Smoothie.
Mango Melba Smoothies
It looks like an indulgence, but this mango-raspberry combination is spiked with turmeric, chia seeds, and flax seeds for added nutrition. Try my Peach Melba Sunset Smoothie Recipe for a different variations.
Pumpkin Spice Protein Shake
I don’t usually go crazy for the pumpkin spice craze, but this thick smoothie is one of my favorites in fall.
Blueberry Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
Fresh squeezed orange juice and vanilla are a magical combination. But I decided to add sweet-tart blueberries for an all new flavor experience.
Cool Strawberry Watermelon Smoothie
Strawberries and watermelon are one of my favorite fruit combinations, especially with a generous twist of lime. They create a seriously thirst-quenching, slushie-style smoothie.
Apple Pie Smoothies
Though it’s still made with nutritious ingredients, this spiced sip is more of a dessert-worthy drink. And yes, kids love it!
Creamy Cantaloupe Smoothie
Watermelon isn’t the only melon that’s delicious in smoothies. Cantaloupe makes a delicious addition to creamy banana smoothies.
Pear Smoothie
This is another one of my fall favorites. Almond butter, almond milk, and cinnamon complement the earthiness of pear. And frozen banana adds creamy texture without overwhelming the flavor.
Blackberry Smoothie
There isn’t anything fancy about this smoothie. It’s just a positively delicious way to enjoy seasonal blackberries. Okay, I do sneak in some lettuce (you can’t taste it!) and I add some flaxseeds or hemp seeds for an omega 3 boost.
Frozen Matcha Latte Smoothie
This is a true coffeehouse style treat that doubles as an afternoon snack and dessert.
Banana Celery Smoothie
The humble name downplays the superfood ingredients in this powerful smoothie.
Pomegranate Smoothie
Be sure to use 100% pure pomegranate juice for the most intense flavor. You can blend pomegranate arils, when in season, but you’ll want to strain out the seeds. Cashew butter adds creaminess to this smoothie, but doesn’t compete with the fruit flavor.
Fruit ‘n Oat Smoothies
Oat milk lovers can double down with this recipe. It contains fresh fruit, frozen fruit, greens, oat milk, and another half serving of oats!
Classic Peanut Butter Protein Smoothie
This is the blend for peanut butter lovers like you and me. It’s peanut forward, with a creamy base that emphasizes the richness of this American classic. Keep it vanilla or enjoy it chocolaty if you wish!

Kiwi Mojito Smoothies
Lime, orange, and mint complement kiwi fruit in this refreshing smoothie.
