Scanning the protein drink aisle can feel like a dairy-filled minefield. For every plant-based gem, there are a dozen brands packed with whey or casein. If you’re tired of the limited choices, you’ve come to the right place! The world of ready-to-drink dairy-free protein shakes has exploded with options, and we know where to find them. This guide includes all the details you need to find the perfect grab-and-go drinks to fuel your day.

Guide: Dairy-Free Protein Shakes that are Ready to Drink (over 20 brands + dozens of flavors to suit every need and taste!). Vegan and allergy-friendly options.

20+ Dairy-Free Protein Shakes for Every Dietary Need

We’ve listed the brands alphabetically and have included sample nutrition facts (for the vanilla flavor if available). This guide includes everything from top allergen-free to functional favorites to naturally conscious. Please note that this guide is for dairy-free protein shakes specifically. We have a separate guide for dairy-free nutrition shakes that are used for meal replacement or broader nutrition.

Allergen Notes: All items listed below are dairy-free by ingredients. They are also gluten-free, and all are vegan unless otherwise noted. But ingredients are subject to change at any time, and all products are at some degree of risk for allergen cross contamination, whether they have a “may contain” statement or not. Always read the label before consuming any food, and make sure you are familiar with this may contain information. Only you can decide what is safe for your needs.

    Pirq Plant Protein Drinks

When they first came on the market, I wasn’t sure if this small brand would survive the big product shake-outs that were happening. But they have persisted to become a leading brand in vegan protein shakes. Each shake includes their proprietary superfoods blend, which is filled with a who’s who of healthy foods. And did I mention they are sugar-free? They sweeten solely with monk fruit.

    Premier Protein Almond Milk Shakes

Filling a forgotten niche, this is the only brand of dairy-free protein shakes on our list that’s made with soy protein. It’s a throwback drink that’s also classically fortified with calcium, vitamin D, vitamin A, and B vitamins. You can buy it in shelf-stable cartons or bottles.

    Pressed Juicery Protein Smoothies

These are pricier than some, but they are cold-pressed and hefty! At 15 ounces, they’re one of the biggest bottles on this list, and they pack in a lot of calories, fat, carbs, fiber, and protein. Yet, they are added sugar-free and contain just 1g of sugar in total! And unlike other low sugar brands, Pressed uses allulose for sweetening.

    PUR Cold-Pressed Protein

This is about as clean as you can get for dairy-free protein shakes. Of course, the protein itself is a processed ingredient. But this juicery skips all of the added sugars, thickeners, emulsifiers, flavors, and other funny business. Each protein shake is made with their cold-pressed almond milk (almonds and water), coconut milk (select flavors), dates, protein powder, and enhancers like cocoa powder, vanilla, or cinnamon – that’s it! They’re even salt-free! Just remember that purity comes at a price. This isn’t the best option for anyone on a tight food budget.

Please note that this product is sold refrigerated.

Reup Collagen Protein Smoothies (not vegan)

Protein shakes with collagen typically contain dairy, but this brand bucks the trend with a non-vegan, dairy-free version served in a shelf-stable pouch. These squeezable smoothies are also remarkably “clean,” made with almond butter, fruit purees, sweet potato, a touch of maple syrup, lion’s mane mushroom, and flaxseed oil.

Guide: Dairy-Free Protein Shakes that are Ready to Drink (over 20 brands + dozens of flavors to suit every need and taste!). Vegan and allergy-friendly options.Varieties: original

    Where to Buy: Amazon, Reup

    Ripple Plant-Based Protein Shakes

The original pea milk brand also has a line of pea protein shakes, naturally. They’re known for being smooth, creamy, sweetened simply with cane sugar, richly fortified with calcium, and of course, high in protein.

Koia is my absolute, all-time, hands-down favorite. The different lines are very different in flavor though! The refrigerated is way better than the shelf-stable bottles, and the Elite line is much thicker than the standard. All still have the edge over anything else I’ve tried, though I’ll compromise on Pirq and Remedy based on price/sales. Happy that all are available at my local HEB!
