Updated in 2025! Several years ago, Bailey’s launched their first dairy-free and vegan creamy liqueur. Since then, they’ve expanded their non-dairy line, and some delicious competition has emerged. This adults-only market hasn’t reached the epic proportions of the great dairy-free ice cream boom. Nevertheless, each year we uncover new dairy-free cream liqueurs to pour over. Some attempt to mimic Irish cream liqueur, others forge a new flavor path. The most current brands and varieties are detailed below.

The Best Dairy-Free & Vegan Cream Liqueurs
All of these creamy dairy-free sips are reportedly gluten-free, and they are vegan unless otherwise noted. They also contain alcohol, and can only be purchased in the U.S. if you are 21 or over. In Canada, you must be at least 19 years of age, and in the U.K., you must be 18 or older.
Allergen Notes: All items listed below are dairy-free by ingredients. But ingredients are subject to change at any time, and all products are at some degree of risk for allergen cross contamination, whether they have a “may contain” statement or not. Always read the label before consuming any food, and make sure you are familiar with this may contain information. Only you can decide what is safe for your needs.
Baileys Oatmilk Liqueurs
Yes, the Baileys vegan line has expanded! In fact, they’ve released two flavors in their new “made with oatmilk” line. The first is Coffee Toffee, crafted like an oatmilk latte with rich caramel notes. We think it’s perfect for impressing espresso martini fans. The second is Cookies & Creamy, boasting the familiar flavor of those iconic chocolate vanilla sandwich cookies. It practically begs to be drizzled into an mocha or hot chocolate. Both have a drinkable creamy texture and are spiked with Irish whiskey for grown up appeal.
- Base: Oat Milk Beverage
- Allergens: none listed (aside from a may contain label)
- Alcohol: 17%
- Availability: U.S. and Canada

Baileys Almande Almondmilk Liqueur
We can’t thank Baileys enough for paving the dairy-free cream liqueurs path into mainstream distribution. They launched Almande as a vegan Irish cream alternative in 2018, and it was met with immediate fanfare. It isn’t identical to their classic Baileys Irish cream liqueur, but it provides a great milky base for making drinks. The flavor is simple and pleasantly sweet with generous hints of almond and a gently spirited balance – presumably from Irish whiskey. The consistency is creamy but light. In fact, Almande was the lightest dairy-free cream liqueur we tasted in terms of texture, taste, and alcohol.
- Base: Almond Milk Beverage
- Allergens: Contains Almond and Soy
- Alcohol: 13%
- Availability: U.S., Canada, and U.K.

Misunderstood Oat Nog (seasonal)
The Misunderstood Whiskey Co. released the first ready-to-drink, dairy-free hard Oat Nog in the U.S.. It’s a lightly creamy seasonal blend made with oat milk and the brand’s Ginger Spiced Whiskey. It’s not too sweet, but does provide dessert-like satisfaction with a grown-up kick. As you might expect, this vegan cream liqueur is only available during the holiday season.
- Base: Oat Milk
- Allergens: Unconfirmed
- Alcohol: 14%
- Availability: U.S.

Oatrageous Oat Milk Cream Liqueurs
After the success of their Oat Nog, Misunderstood Whiskey decided to release a full line of cream liqueurs. The collection includes Coconut, Espresso, and the world’s first Dairy-Free Bourbon Cream. Each variety is made with dairy-free oatmilk cream and bourbon whiskey. The beverage is just sweet enough, with less sugar than many other brands, and has a light but smooth and creamy finish.
- Base: Oat Milk
- Allergens: Unconfirmed
- Alcohol: 14%
- Availability: U.S.

Almondaire Almond-Based Creme Liqueur
This award-winning drink deserves every medal. They made a valiant attempt to mimic Baileys Irish Cream with a full-bodied, creamy mouth feel. It’s still lighter, but it does offer those warm hints of cocoa and vanilla that we were longing for. The warming sensation of this libation is a touch stronger than Baileys Almande, but again we’re left wondering what spirit it’s made with. The label just says, “made with natural grain spirits.” Nevertheless, the smooth flavor and consistency of Almondaire won us over for straight sipping and cocktails, and it really does hold its own against the competition.
- Base: Almond Milk Beverage
- Allergens: Contains Almond and Soy
- Alcohol: 13.9%
- Availability: U.S.

Licor 43 Horchata
This sweet, refreshing, and lightly creamy liqueur hit the U.S. market in 2021. But the brand has been around for a while, making their namesake liqueur in Spain. The horchata is a traditional Valencia recipe using tigernuts. They provide a natural richness that makes the perfect creamy dairy-free base for your favorite cocktails.
- Base: Tigernuts
- Allergens: None listed
- Alcohol: 16%
- Availability: U.S., U.K., Australia

Black Lines Oat Nog Liqueur (seasonal)
Misunderstood might be a dairy-free pioneer in North America, but Black Lines was Europe’s first hard oat nog. Their creamy drink is a bit richer, a touch buttery, and much lower in alcohol. It’ s made with Minor Figures Barista Oat Milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and vanilla, and lightly spiked with East London Rarer Rum. But get it while you can! This is a purely seasonal beverage that emerges annually, usually around late October.
- Base: Oat Milk
- Allergens: Unconfirmed
- Alcohol: 6%
- Availability: U.K.

Dirty Cow Plant-Based Cre*m Liqueurs
This top rated vegan cream liqueur comes in a Neapolitan range of flavors: Vanilla, Chocolate, and Strawberry. Unlike most other brands, they actually share their ingredients, which are free of fourteen top allergens. This is also the only dairy-free cream liqueur brand we’ve found that offers full size and mini bottles.
- Base: Coconut
- Allergens: None listed
- Alcohol: 17%
- Availability: U.K.

Tokaj Vegan Coconut & Almond Liqueur
This lightly creamy Hungarian beverage is easier to find in Europe than the U.S. But if you spot it, it’s usually a deal to purchase, and it tastes quite delicious. The company sent us a few bottles to try. We served them at a couple parties and every single person liked the taste quite a bit. In fact, it was voted “better than Bailey’s” by several people. Tokaj Vegan is almond flavored, not almond based, which lends a holiday vibe. The alcohol is strong, but not overpowering, and is balanced with just enough sweetness to make this a grown-up treat.
- Base: Coconut Oil and Soy
- Allergens: Soy
- Alcohol: 15%
- Availability: Europe

Latraka Spanish Cream Liqueur
This is one of the newer vegan cream liqueurs on the market, and it hails from Spain! We haven’t had the chance to try it yet, but it is reportedly becoming available in the U.S. It’s made with a base of chufas, also called tiger nuts. Traditional Spanish horchata is made with chufas.
- Base: Tiger nuts
- Allergens: None that we know of
- Alcohol: Unknown
- Availability: Europe, U.S.

Dairy-Free Cream Liqueur FAQs
Where are the Ingredients?
Unfortunately, ingredient disclosure isn’t required on alcoholic beverages, and most companies opt to be secretive. We did verify that all of the above dairy-free cream liqueurs are made without any milk ingredients. But inquire directly if concerned about other allergens, potential allergen cross-contamination, or if you want to confirm the ingredients.
How Should I Store Dairy-Free Cream Liqueur?
Like regular cream liqueurs, vegan cream liqueur doesn’t require refrigeration. You can store it in the fridge, but it’s also fine re-capped and stored in a cool, dark place. The alcohol content helps to preserve it for quite a long time.
What about Homemade Vegan Irish Cream Liqueur?
If you’re longing for a vegan Baileys recipe, can’t find these dairy-free cream liqueurs in store, or need a top allergen-free option, then I recommend trying one of these coconut milk-based Dairy-Free Irish Cream Recipes. They might not be spot on, but they’re close, and delicious!
Discontinued Brands
Sadly, it looks like Bom Bom is no longer producing their sweet, creamy, and delicious dairy-free liqueurs. They used to make a Half Baked and Nilli Vanilla flavors. Also, Besos de Oro, a Spain-based vegan company, has gone out of business. They made rich brandy and tiger nut milk liqueur. Alcohol has a long shelf life, so you might still spot some discontinued products online or in store, but these varieties are no longer in production.

Any dairy free chocolate liqueur besides Mozart?
Borgata is another option
I’ve been using Fennelly’s Almond Irish Cream for years. By far my favorite.
Hi Dave, we’ve never been able to confirm the ingredients or dairy-free status with that brand. They state “non-dairy” on the bottle, which unfortunately doesn’t mean it’s necessarily free of dairy ingredients. Are there ingredients listed or is there a way to contact the company on the bottle? Unfortunately, we’ve always come up empty handed when trying to get information on this brand. Thanks!
Dear Alisa,
Thank you for this article! It was immensely helpful, and hopefully companies will recognize the hole in the market for good vegan cream liquors! (LOVE the Horchata 43!)
I’m sad to report that for the time being, Godiva has discontinued their chocolate liquor due to a chocolate sourcing issue. (Or so the gentlemen at Binny’s told me. !?)
Thanks for all you do!
I just read an article about how this market is expected to grow, so hopefully we will see more dairy-free cream liqueurs in the near future. Thanks for the heads up on Godiva. Disappointing. I’m just waiting to hear back from them on confirmation.
You only have 4 brands listed and you couldn’t be bothered to taste all of them before writing your column?!
There are 6 brands listed. We don’t have access to a couple, but we did try the others. There are notes on them, and we also linked to our full reviews for a few.
Even if we can’t get access to them ourselves, we want to share all options in case you can! Sorry, we couldn’t fly to Europe to get notes on all for you!
I’ve not yet tried Beso but, when searching, I found that their site is no longer working. On Amazon there are some great reviews but not available on there. There is stock on: https://alternativeliqueurs.com for both the vanilla and chocolate.
Thanks! I updated the link.
I love to know how to mix dairy milk with other juice sugar free
Loved Besos De Oro, it’s the nicest Baileys alternative that I’ve tried so far though quite strong.
Than you for sharing this Nigel.
Alisa, I love how your reviews are so honest and unbiased they are! I also love how descriptive this is….I can almost taste it for myself…but without the buzz ?.
Haha, well I think you need to try them now Nicole, in the spirit of the holidays!
