Asian Honey Garlic Ribs Recipe - cooked low and slow on the grill (naturally dairy-free)When Brilynn Ferguson wrote for a site called Get Your Grill On, she shared this recipe for Asian honey garlic ribs with us. That site is down defunct, and Bri stopped updating her blog, Jumbo Empanadas. But you can still enjoy her rib recipe here, and you can now see more of Bri’s work at brilynnferguson.com.

Brilynn cooks these ribs low and slow on the grill, but you can bake them if preferred.

Special Diet Notes: Asian Honey Garlic Ribs

    By ingredients, this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, nut-free, and peanut-free.

For gluten-free Asian Honey Garlic Ribs, you will need to source some gluten-free Asian sauces! WaJaShan Gluten Free Organic Ponzu is a good option, or you can make your own ponzu sauce. Try Sweet Mandarin Black Bean Sauce, or adventure making your own homemade black bean sauce.  Wok Mei Gluten Free Oyster Sauce is popular, or if you’re feeling realing adventurous, try this recipe. But for all of the recipes noted above, be sure to swap in gluten-free tamari for the soy sauce.

Usually when I make up my own marinade I don’t measure or write down ingredients but I had a feeling that this would be a good one and it was. I will definitely be making it again, especially for a honey garlic rib lover.

Servings: 1 full rack of ribs
    Calories:
    Ingredients Method

    Ingredients

    • ¼ cup honey
    • ¼ cup ponzu sauce
    • 2 tablespoons black bean sauce
    • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
    • 5 garlic cloves
    • 1 inch ginger peeled and grated
    • Pinch garlic pepper
    • Pinch Chinese 5 spice
    • 1 rack pork side ribs

    Method

    1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, ponzu sauce, black bean sauce, oyster sauce, garlic, ginger, garlic pepper, and 5 spice.
    2. Put the ribs in a baking dish or high-sided baking sheet and pour the marinade over top. Turn to coat the ribs. Refrigerate and let marinate for at least 3 hours or preferably overnight.
    3. Remove the ribs from the marinade and reserve the liquid.
    4. Put the leftover marinade into a small saucepan and bring to a boil for at least 5 minutes.
    5. Heat your grill to low and cook the ribs low and slow, basting periodically with the marinade, particularly at the end of the cooking time. I let them cook for 3 to 4 hours.
