These simple apple pie smoothies have serious kid-friendly appeal, with the creamy “a la mode” blended right in! The recipe was originally submitted by Rachel Ruiz.  She said, “My 4 year old loves these apple pie smoothies (and so do I)!  Like an apple pie in a cup, but dairy-free and packed with healthy goodness.”

A delicious, kid-friendly apple pie smoothie with the "a la mode" blended right in! Naturally vegan, dairy-free, soy-free & gluten-free.

Dairy-Free Apple Pie a La Mode Smoothies

I jumped on this recipe from Rachel, because I could tell my kids would like it. But I wasn’t quite prepared for how much they loved it. All three of my youngest children couldn’t get enough. Even the girl who will only drink chocolate PB banana smoothies asked if I could make this one for breakfast tomorrow!

My husband and my oldest daughter thought it could use a bit more acid. For them, I remedied this with a squeeze of lemon or a pinch of salt. It also jumps to another level when I use homemade applesauce. Store-bought applesauce is a bit bland, but homemade has freshness and more depth in flavor.

Delicious, kid-friendly apple pie smoothies with the "a la mode" blended right in! Naturally vegan, dairy-free, soy-free & gluten-free.

Special Diet Notes: Apple Pie Smoothies

By ingredients this recipe is dairy-free / non-dairy, egg-free, gluten-free, grain-free, nut-free, peanut-free, soy-free, vegan / plant-based, and vegetarian. Just be sure to choose non-dairy milk and yogurt that suit your dietary needs.

    Notes

Try Homemade: Using homemade applesauce instead of store-bought takes these dairy-free apple pie a la mode smoothies to another level.
Lower Sugar / Less Sweet Options: You can use unsweetened milk alternative and/or unsweetened dairy-free yogurt if you aren't seeking a sweet smoothie. The applesauce and apple juice do add sweetness.
Grown-Up Flavor: More mature taste buds prefer a little flavor contrast. For them, I add a pinch of salt or a squeeze of fresh lemon juice.

I do love a piece of good pie, but I’m happy to drink my pie from time to time. Especially when the drinkable version looks and sounds as good as this one! 🙂
